Directors’ Liability and Climate Risk White Paper on India

To complement the legal opinion on Directors’ obligations to consider climate change-related risk in India, the Commonwealth Climate and Law Initiative (CCLI) has produced a white paper on Directors’ Liability and Climate Risk White Paper on India by National University of Singapore Associate Professor Umakanth Varottil.

The white paper examines climate change as a material financial risk, and what this means for directors’ duties of of trust and loyalty and competence. It also examines possible routes for enforcing these duties, and potential consequences of breach.
